Laboratory 9 - Tornadoes
Physics 148 - Meteorology Lab

Objectives: Your objective for this lab is to learn more about tornadoes and the Fujita Scale.

The Fujita Scale is based on risk to property and human life. It is not based on the appearance of tornadoes or even a measured wind speed. In this lab we will analyze pictures of damaged property and then try to assign an F-value to the particular image. We will then try to assign an F-value to tornadoes by appearance alone. You will see that it is difficult to achieve this.

I. Study the pictures with the assigned F-values and then determine the magnitude of the tornado of the images A-K. You should also explain your reasoning of your results.
