Grading Scheme:

Attendance Policy:    You are expected to attend all classes. According to the Key Freshmen are not allowed to miss more than 3 class periods. You will receive warning letters if you miss 3 classes and will be dropped from the class if you miss more than 3.

Homework:    All work is to be your own. You may work together on homework only to gain a better understanding of a problem. Under no circumstances may you copy another student's work. This will be considered an honor code violation. My suggestion is that you save most of your questions for me either in class or in my office. Although I have specific office hours you may come by anytime.

The homework will consist of quantitative and qualitative problems. All out-of-class work is to be turned in on the due date at the beginning of class. Any late work will have a 10%/day penalty (weekends included, i.e., if an assignment is due on Friday and turned in on Monday it will be considered 3 days late).

Also as part of your homework grade, you will also be required to give at least one short oral presentation during the semester on a topic of your choice (and approved by me). The presentation will be based on content, delivery, and organization. You will be encouraged to use various media in your talk.

Inclass labs: We will have a number of inclass labs which may or may not be announced prior to class.  If you miss a class in which a lab was conducted then you cannot make it up.

Exams:   There will be three to five exams and a comprehensive final. They will, for the most part, be equally weighted between multiple choice, short answer, and quantitative problems. You may only make up an exam if 1) you have an excused absence and you inform me ahead of time (at least 24 hours), or 2) you have an emergency.
