Astronomy 105: Solar System Astronomy

This class is introductory astronomy. During the fall semester, the course deals with solar system astronomy, including planets and their exploration, moons, comets, asteroids, the Sun, and questions about life elsewhere in the solar system. The first few weeks we will be concerned with general topics such as history of astronomy, light and telescopes and the structure of the solar system.

Astronomy 145: Solar System AstronomyLaboratory

The laboratory is a required part of the class for all students. In the ten in-class and three evening observing labs, students will learn about astronomy the way that astronomers do: by actually observing the sky and making inferences based on their observations. You will be observing "real" stars at night and various photographs, computer graphics and teaching tools during the day.
